The person choosing your flute

I was born into a family of musicians and started learning the flute at six, under Vidwan Sri Srinivas Murthy. I played my first concert at ten. In the three decades since, I have played more than 1,500 concerts in India and abroad.

Teaching became my second calling. Since 2015 I have taught the Carnatic flute online through CarnaticFlute.in, to students in more than 20 countries. Many of them began as complete beginners.

New students find it very hard to choose a first flute, and many go wrong at that very first step. That is why I started indianflutes.in.

I don’t make flutes. I work with a couple of experienced makers in India and put every flute through my own studio before it reaches a student. I do this between concerts and recordings, which is why each order takes a little time.
